Koichi Domoto of KinKi Kids performed in the 2,100th showing of the popular musical "Endless SHOCK" at Hakataza in Fukuoka on September 28. Expressing his gratitude for reaching this unprecedented milestone, he said, “I am thankful. Thank you very much.”
Approximately 23 and a half years have passed since the musical's debut in November 2000. On May 9 of this year, Domoto set a new record in Japan for the most performances by a lead actor in domestic theater.
During the curtain call, two children born in 2012, the year "Endless SHOCK" first premiered at Hakataza, appeared on stage to present Domoto with a cake and a bouquet of flowers in celebration. When asked by the press about Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers, who has also achieved remarkable feats, Domoto said with enthusiasm, “He is a remarkable person who is energizing Japan. I think it’s incredible.”
As of September 28, "Endless SHOCK" has held 213 performances at Hakataza, with only one show remaining on September 29. Reflecting on his time at the theater, Domoto remarked, “It’s a wonderful venue, and I feel fortunate to have been able to perform here. I have been blessed with joy for these 12 years.”
In November, "Endless SHOCK" will be performed at the Imperial Theatre in Tokyo, concluding its 24-year history with the final show on November 29. Known as the "hardest ticket to get in Japan," the grand finale is indeed a platinum ticket. In response to numerous requests from fans eager to see the final performance, a live viewing will be held in movie theaters across the country, thanks to Domoto’s wish to make it accessible to as many people as possible.
