Sho Hirano of Number_i Shines at GQ MEN OF THE YEAR 2024, Celebrates a Flavorful Year
Number_i made an appearance at the GQ MEN OF THE YEAR 2024 award event held in Tokyo on December 5.
This annual event by the men’s fashion magazine ‘GQ’ recognizes the most prominent people of the year, where Number_i won the Best Music Group award. Sho Hirano described his year in one Kanji character, “味” (flavor), saying, “I had many opportunities to go abroad and savored many meals. Each time our song is listened to, various flavors emerge,” expressing a sense of fulfillment.
They debuted with the digital single ‘GOAT’ on January 1. In April, they performed at Coachella Festival, one of the largest outdoor festivals in the US, held in California. They will be making their first appearance at the Kohaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Battle) on New Year’s Eve, marking the end of their year. Yuta Kishi said, “We debuted on January 1 and will finish on December 31. At Kohaku, we want to show our best performance so far.” Yuta Kishi also said, “This was a year supported by everyone, so I want to express my gratitude to everyone.”
Their goal is to succeed globally. On this day, they shared a table with Haruka Kitaguchi, who won a gold medal in women’s javelin throw at the Paris Olympics, and Yuto Horigome, who won a gold medal in men’s street skateboarding, and seemed to have been greatly inspired. Horigome’s mother is a fan of Hirano, and Hirano expressed his excitement, saying with a smile, “I’m looking forward to skateboarding together!”
