THE RAMPAGE’s Shogo Iwaya Releases Debut Novel “Sentaku” – A Novel That Feels Like a Two-Hour Movie
Shogo Iwaya of THE RAMPAGE held a book release event for his debut novel “Sentaku” on October 11th in Tokyo. He expressed his joy for completing the book, saying, “I have been writing in solitude for a long time, so this brings light to the darkness.”
The story revolves around two boys, one who decides to kill his father and another who contemplates suicide. He consciously aimed to create content that even people who are not fond of reading can enjoy, and he said, “Although it is a novel, you can also perceive it as a two-hour movie.”
The reason he started to like novels was because he borrowed “Rubin no Tsubo ga Wareta” by Kahoru Yadono from Kazuma Kawamura, a member of THE RAMPAGE. Iwaya looked back and said, “It was incredibly interesting.” Regarding the reasons behind starting to write on his own, he analyzed, “While I usually entertain the audience through physical expressions as a performer, I had a strong admiration for words.”
He has already begun planning for his second novel. He said, “The first one is a story completely opposite to the world I live in. For the second one, I want to create a world that only I can write. I will write it no matter how many years it takes.”
