Shota Watanabe of Snow Man: “A Truly Profound Experience” — Shintaro Morimoto of SixTONES Joins Him for the Opening Night of the Musical “DREAM BOYS” with Joy Over Koichi Domoto’s “Thoughtful Gift”!
On October 9, Shota Watanabe from Snow Man and Shintaro Morimoto from SixTONES celebrated the opening night of the stage play “DREAM BOYS” at the Imperial Theatre in Tokyo.
The play, which centers around boxing, portrays a passionate friendship. Koichi Domoto from KinKi Kids has been directing the play since 2019, and Watanabe and Morimoto are teaming up for the second consecutive year. Under Domoto’s meticulous guidance up until just before the opening, Morimoto remarked, “It feels a bit different from last year.” Watanabe expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I want to add my own touch to Koichi’s advice.”
Domoto presented Watanabe with a blue and Morimoto with a green noren, traditional Japanese curtains hung at the entrance of dressing rooms, matching their group member colors. The two had been eagerly requesting these, and Morimoto expressed his joy, saying, “I’m happy that Koichi’s name is written on them.”
“DREAM BOYS” began in 2004 with Hideaki Takizawa in the lead role, followed by successors like Kazuya Kamenashi from KAT-TUN. This performance at the current Imperial Theatre, which is scheduled for reconstruction in 2025 due to aging, marks the final show at this venue, with future plans yet to be decided. Watanabe shared his sentiments, saying, “It’s truly a profound experience to be the ones to close the curtain on this production for now.” He added, “I want to run through to the final performance and enjoy every moment.”
