Based on a true story, the film depicts Tamotsu Nishihata (Tsurube), who cannot write due to being born during the war, struggling to write a love letter to his wife, Kyoko Nishihata (Harada Tomoyo), on their 35th wedding anniversary. Shigeoka plays Tsurube’s younger self, while Kamishiraishi Mone plays Harada’s younger self.

Director Tsukamoto said, “Although they don’t resemble each other in appearance, their inner selves and core traits are similar,” explaining the casting choice. Shigeoka expressed his delight, saying, “I was really happy that I was cast because they felt something similar between Tsurube and me.”

This will be Shigeoka’s first film co-starring with Kamishiraishi in eight years since “Drowning Love,” released in 2016. Reflecting on his co-star, Shigeoka said, “Even though it had been a while since we last met, there was no awkwardness, and there was a sense of trust from the beginning.” Kamishiraishi smiled, saying, “When I read the script, I thought the role of Tamotsu fit Shigeoka-san, so when I heard it was really decided, I became even more excited about the shoot.”
