TOKIO’s Masahiro Matsuoka Reveals His Long-standing Love for Armani Perfume Since His Teens: “I Wear It When I Need to Do My Best”
Masahiro Matsuoka of TOKIO attended the opening ceremony of the Giorgio Armani in Omotesando, Tokyo on September 13th.
Matsuoka appeared in a black jacket. He commented on the outfit, saying, “There’s a softness even in formal wear. The inner softness and the ability to relax is Armani’s magic.”
Matsuoka has had a connection with Armani for a long time, loving the brand since his teens. He recalled that the first thing he bought was a bottle of perfume and reminisced, “I would wear Armani perfume when I needed to do my best.”
In 1996, when he attended the pre-party for the F1 Monaco Grand Prix, he wore an Armani tuxedo for the first time. “There was a dress code at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo. Since it was my first tuxedo, I had it made by Armani. I was very nervous,” he said.
Since then, Matsuoka has continued to use Armani as a gift. When asked by the host who he would like to gift Armani to, he mentioned TOKIO’s leader, Shigeru Joshima. “In six years, Joshima will turn 60. I want to give him an Armani gift in six years,” he shared his future plans.
